BACKCOUNTRY RODEO is a non-prot organization founded through one family’s love, commitment, courage, and strength. My name is Carter Houston, and I am a sophomore at Wendell Krinn Technical High School. I was six years old when my baby brother was born a survivor, and my family became his greatest allies in his ght for survival. Keaton was born with the Dandy-Walker variant; his liver was displaced on the outside of his body. He had a major heart surgery and the preconcieved notion was that he would never be able to walk, among other diagnosed handicaps. Initially, our family lived at the Ronald McDonald House for about the rst three years of his life.
Now, Keaton is nine years old, has undergone thirty-seven surgeries, plays baseball, attends school full-time, and is a happy, well-adjusted elementary school boy. I have decided it’s my turn to give back. I organized this shing tournament to raise awareness for the Ronald McDonald House and unite our community in support of families in need of their services. Awareness is the rst step in life-changing journeys. rough community support and donations, charities such as the Ronald McDonald House can continue to make a dierence. Let the ever-revolving door continue to open so families can become their survivor’s greatest allies, as well. ank you, Ronald McDonald House!
